This notice describes the RSA classroom pilot’s current data practices. It is written to be understandable by teachers, families, and students.Effective August 29, 2026 · RSA classroom pilot

What RSA collects

  • Teacher email, display name, classroom name, class code, and secure sign-in records.
  • Teacher-approved materials, links, titles, and instructions.
  • A student’s classroom display name and a random device/classroom identifier after joining a study space.
  • Limited study-session metadata, such as the selected material and last activity time.
  • A prepared message, student name, and support choice only when the student checks the sharing consent box and submits it.

What stays private

RSA does not save private coaching transcripts in its classroom database. Teachers do not receive coaching history, study messages, emotional notes, last-active dates, or automatic participation reports. The Teacher Assistant displays only messages students deliberately approved for sharing.

AI processing

RSA sends the text needed for a coaching turn—and a selected teacher-approved file when studying—to OpenAI’s API. RSA requests that Responses API results are not stored as application state. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the customer opts in; standard abuse-monitoring logs may be retained for up to 30 days unless enhanced retention controls apply.

RSA does not send a student’s classroom identifier or teacher dashboard record as part of a coaching prompt. Students should not enter addresses, phone numbers, passwords, or other unnecessary personal details.

Students under 13

AI coaching is technically paused for users who identify as under 13 unless RSA’s enhanced child-data controls are enabled for the service. A teacher or caregiver can still offer a non-AI practice option. This safeguard does not rely on collecting a birth date.

Service providers

  • OpenAI processes AI coaching and voice requests.
  • Cloudflare-hosted services store the RSA application, classroom records, and teacher-approved files.
  • Brevo sends one-time teacher sign-in emails.

RSA does not sell student information or use it for targeted advertising.

Choices and requests

Students can use the communication coach without sharing a message with a teacher. A student may ask the pilot teacher or school contact to request access or deletion. Pilot teachers may request a classroom export, correction, or deletion through their RSA onboarding contact. Requests are verified before action to prevent an unauthorized person from deleting student information.
